Driving and Commuting Policy

Al Haditha Energy SAOC recognizes driving as the greatest risk in Oman. Al Haditha in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, is committed to managing road safety through training programs, promoting a safe driving culture, minimizing and managing journeys, and complying with Omani legislation and client road safety standards.”

Al Haditha asserts that Life Saving Rules are mandatory for managing driving-related risks within our operations.

Al Haditha commits to ensure compliance through: 

  • Vehicles & Equipment: We Shall provide approved fleets and resources that comply with Omani and client standards and requirements.
  • Competency of Drivers: We Shall deploy trained and qualified drivers who meet road safety standards and client requirements. Clear KPIs will be set, and positive driving culture will be enhanced through awareness sessions and forums.
  • Safe Journey Management System: A trained and competent Journey Manager Shall be appointed to oversee fleet management and mitigate risks through road safety risk assessments.
  • In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS): An approved IVMS Shall be used to measure and analyze driving behavior and performance.
  • Substance Abuse: Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited at all times.
  • Cellular Phone Use: The use of cellular phones, including hands-free devices such as headsets and Bluetooth, while driving is strictly prohibited.
  • Seat Belts: Drivers and all passengers Shall wear seat belts at all times. Drivers are responsible for ensuring passenger compliance and must report any non-compliance.
  • Night Driving: Night driving is generally prohibited. If necessary, permission must be obtained as per client procedural requirements.
  • Commuting: Al Haditha advises employees to avoid using personal vehicles for commuting. Employees should use client-approved public transport to travel to and from the work site.
  • Consequences: Any violation of road safety rules will result in disciplinary action in accordance with Al Haditha and client consequence management policies. Sub-contractors may face removal from the site and a ban on future work.

We believe that implementing this policy will continuously enhance AHE’s road safety performance and achieve Goal Zero incidents.
